I’m Sugar and Spice – | Filed under About Me

Here I am knowing what I want to say but finding this a difficult post to write—-you wonder why, it should be esy
some will think, others will understand.

The questions continue, yes it is all about me, letting you know me, I’m writing the history of my life, one day at a time, however I want, what will I write today? I’m the main character but at what stage of my life will I be talking about, will it be fact or fiction—-only I will know.
Oh wait today it is a question so we know it will be fact—so let us get to the question.

The question we got is Do I have to behave?

That came from none other than ——GEE-WHIZ herself Karen and she knowns the answer before she asked the question. Of course, we always behave here *was that lightening*

Now for what she really wants to hear about and for those who do not know

Karen is from My Life.

and she said “I know what your dad called you growing up but I think others would love to hear about it.”

Now you know why it is difficult for me to write—-Special Memories.
I am a Daddy’s Girl from the begining of times.
He also use to read to me—-Fairy Tales and Nursery Tales.

One of them being:

What Are Little Girls Made of?
What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails,
And puppy-dogs’ tails;
That’s what little boys are made of.

What are little girls made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
and all that’s nice;
That’s what little girls are made of.

He started to call me Sug—short for sugar and it stuck until the day he died.
I thought it went well with Honey that he always called my Mom—as a matter of fact my niece and nephews thought that was what my mother’s name was because
my Daddy always called her that and they have always called her “Honey” even till today.

It was appropriate as I was prime and proper and my sister was a tomboy so she was frogs and snails—and well not really but and she had a nickname but is still called by
it today so I will not post it here as she has never used her name.

Everytime I hear Sug I think of my Daddy as that is what he called me from the time I was a little toddler until he left us.—-I will always be proud to have been his Sug and no one else has ever been allowed to call me that name.

Do you have a special name you would like to share, I know you do. Don’t be shy spill it here. See you again soon here where Life Is Simple Good.

    Daddies little girl obviously.
    A special name hmmmmmmm
I have been called many special names and in many languages but I dont think that’s what you meant.
My mother calls me Taki.

  2. MyAvatars 0.2 RD Says:

She’s my Sveedie and I’m her Lover Dover. (’v’ intended - she’s Sweedish)

  3. MyAvatars 0.2 swthunnyb Says:

I didn’t have any special names when I was growing up. At least not by my parents and I’m not a daddy’s girl. I was just Missy.

I didn’t have any kind of nick name until I got to high school and I was called Pinky by my group. Because I blushed easily.

When I married I was called Woobie after the security blanket off of the movie Mr. Mom.

    Nice post Ms. Vickie.
Anyone can tell you how much I love fond memories.

    “Sug” is a sweet name.

My dad used to call me “dolly” … it stuck so long that now I call my own daughter “dolly” and she loves it.

  5. MyAvatars 0.2 Monica Says:

I have a good friend who strongly resembles (could pass for his TWIN) Sam Elliott who calls me Angel. He has done this in such a natural way and for so long that our mutual friends call me Angel sometimes.

My favorite nickname of all time? Mom.

  6. MyAvatars 0.2 Sissy B. Says:

I’ll let you in on a little secret…because you are so nice. Sissy is not my given name…I go by it because my brother called me that when we were very little…why is this significant? Because my mother would become very angry with him for calling me Sissy…after all, she had given me another name, and that was the name he was to use…and he had to stop calling me Sissy or be punished. He stopped…but we did not forget. Being called Sissy reminds me of being loved….by the brother who tried so hard to protect me.

  7. MyAvatars 0.2 Karen Says:

Uh hum… I’m not sitting by you if you’re going to attract lightening like that ;-) LOL By the way, who said we HAVE to BEHAVE? LOL

I enjoyed reading that and you said it beautifully, Sug you are and always will be. Love ya, GF!

  8. MyAvatars 0.2 Raggedy Says:

I enjoyed your post. Sug is a very nice nic. My Mum used to call me lily of the valley but it ended after toddler hood. I have a lot of nics. Maybe people don’t like my name…LOL. Or possibly because I am one of those people who nic name everyone else. I have been Kat, Kit, Kate, Raggedy, sparky, shorty, sunshine, sarge, and Hunny Bunny to my Hunny Bear.
Can I still ask a question? I asked what your favorite flower and color was a while back.
Now I want to know what you were doing five years ago. And what do you see yourself doing 5 years from now?
    Have a wonderful day!

Such a special name given to you by your dad, and suits you to a tee. :)

When my youngest brother was little,he called me sa-sa and that was pretty special. I’ve been called Sis, and I like that. With my daughter, I was first Mommy, then Mama, then Mama C. and now it’s Mom. I’m also MeMaw. I used to HATE being called Sally Gal, yuck!! But, as you know in the south, as long as they call us for supper, we’re good! :)

  10. MyAvatars 0.2 Scarlett Says:

Scarletina came from Argentina. A guy who I was smitten on until I graduated gave me that nickname. He would sing around in the school hallways, “Don’t cry for me Scarletina. The truth is I never did leave you.” And he was the most popular guy back in my day, lol. It embarrassed the heck out of me but it stuck and that’s why I chose to keep my lj.

Hi Vickie, that post got me thinking, when you started out saying you knew what you wanted to say bur were having difficulty finding the words, I find that can apply to commenting on posts sometimes too, a thought comes to mind but for one reason or another you don’t want to use it, I sometimes wind up not commenting at all for that reason.
About names, my favourite (only) daughters name is Vicki and when she was little she was Pickle Pie, she later became Lady.

  12. MyAvatars 0.2 mrhaney Says:

the only nickname that ever stuck was mrhaney.mr. haney was a character on the t.v. show green acres. i was once called a c , short for air conditioning, because that use to be my job at one time .

  13. MyAvatars 0.2 Merle Says:

Hi Vickie ~~ A nice post and a nice nickname your Dad gave you. I was thinking that I never had a nickname, but
remembered when Peter and I were young teenagers (Many
years ago) we started calling each other “Ollie”. I think this must have started out “Holtie” that later became
Ollie. A few years ago, a cousin said to me “Hello Ollie”
which puzzled me for a while, but I think he called us both by the nickname when we were kids.
Thanks for your comments, glad you enjoy the smiles.
    Take care, Merle.

  14. MyAvatars 0.2 Vince Says:

I never had a special name growing up, and no nicknames stuck.

I find it funny that I also call the Wife “Honey” or “hon”. The only time I ever use her proper name is in introducing her. Though once I actually called her by her name and she jumped with shock.

  15. MyAvatars 0.2 Teresa Says:

My dad says I am made of piss and vinegar. Not sure what that says about me, but he is right.

  16. MyAvatars 0.2 deni Says:

My Mom told me that Dad called me Pookie when I was little. My ex dubbed my older daughter Pookie and it stuck. :)

Now I am usually referred to as Brat. Which of course, I have no idea WHY. *snort*

Hubby will call me Kitten during uh, certain times. *grin*

But Deni is the nickname that really stuck, I have always been called that ever since I can remember.

  17. MyAvatars 0.2 skye Says:

    Nice nickname, vickie :)

I never had a nickname growing up and didn’t really have one until I started coming online. It started off as Migs, which I stole off my nephew. It’s a play on our last name. But then it turned into Migsy and that stuck for years. I kinda became her, so much so that I asked my niece to start calling me Aunt Migsy. She refused, the little shi*. A special someone called me migsy girl. I miss hearing that

  18. MyAvatars 0.2 Annie Says:

Don’t laugh, but my parents called me Ann, without an ‘e’, as they didn’t want people to change it. They then called me Fanny for the first 18 years of my life! It didn’t mean then what it does now in the UK! It was my decision to use the name Annie. Have a good weekend Vickie.

  19. MyAvatars 0.2 Margaret Says:

I have so many nicknames, it’s hard to know where to start. Margie with a hard g, Mag, Mags, Maggie, Honey, etc..I called my younger daughter wee sug for many years because she was so tiny and sweet. Now she’s 16, and not so small–but is still sweet and loving. (most of the time!)Hope you’re doing OK, Vickie!!
