Can a heart be heavy and happy at the same time, of course mine can. You see today is a very special day. I know you must be tired of me and MY special days but do I care no. It was on this day 28 years ago that I said those famous words “I DO” It also fell on Father’s Day, by now most of you know that I was a Daddy’s Girl and still miss my Dad. From the time I was a little girl and knew I would be married one day and wanted a nice church wedding I knew I wanted my wedding to take place on Father’s Day so my Daddy could walk me down the aisle. My wish came true on June 18th,1978 when my daddy walked me down the aisle and placed my hand in Carl Wayne’s and answered her mother and I when the minister asked to giveth this woman in marriage……tears trickled down his face, a man who seldom showed his emotions and he turned and walked to be with my mom…..The wedding continued, even though “My Daddy” gave my hand in marriage I remained a Daddy’s Girl . We have all heard once a Daddy’s girl always one and that is how I have always been even though my dad left each of us alone when he was taken to a better place.
So today on “Our Anniversary” Carl Wayne this is for you…
My husband
My husband, my husband -
Strong, compassionate,
Keeper of all,
Safe haven to some.
Love of my life,
Son to mother,
Brother to siblings,
Husband to wife.
My husband, my husband,
Your love is like none other.
It’s like a calm breeze on
The water and the fire in a
Volcano erupting with you all.
My husband, my husband,
Your touch is as soft as a feather
And as hard as stone.
My husband, my husband,
Your word can be as soft as
A dove and calming in the wind.
My husband, my husband,
My love my life,
My friend, my world -
My husband.
and Daddy on Father’s Day this is for you
Life Goes On
The sun still sets
And the wind still blows.
How greatly I miss you,
Nobody knows.
The seasons change,
And leaves still fall.
The pain from missing you
They can’t grasp at all.
The moon still rises,
And stars shine bright.
The way that you left me
Just wasn’t right.
I ache to see your smiling face,
Have you hold me again in your arms.
Until that cherished time arrives,
I’ll pretend you’re the sun that warms.
and to my Father-in-law who I call Daddy this is for you
Father-in-law
I’ve seen the joy on your face
Seen the worry and anxiety
When you listens to all the drought talk
I’ve watched all so often many times
As you held a tiny curled purring kitten
So tenderly in your big, rough paws
Softly stroking, lips curved in a smile
When the kitten bats at a straw
Or one of your children gets in trouble
And you has to let them go their own way
You’ve survived heart problems, and other worse fates
And I’m sure glad you are still around
We need your guidance, skill, and wisdom
A better man will never be found
My husband wishes he were half the man
That my father-in-law has become
I agree, and desperately hope but now
I wish that I could give you something
For all that you have given me
Your knowledge, love, and your oldest son
But, there isn’t enough money, or words
So I guess all I can do for this man
Is make sure dinner’s in the fridge
From time to time and the grass is cut
And let you know, I’m proud to call you Dad.
For each of you who are Fathers please enjoy your day for you are SPECIAL ! Those who are not with your children you have them in your heart as they have you in their heart.

What beautiful tributes! You are very fortunate to have such men be an intricate part of your life. Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the blogosphere:grin: When I clicked on your profile I noticed that you are listed as Southern Belle. Did you used to have a blog that had magnolias on it??? Just curious…it just seemed familar somehow:???: I just noticed I am listed on your sidebar…thank you, that is very kind of you. Will visit again soon!

excellent post miss vickie. thanks for the happy father’s day. you and walker have a way with words. maybe you should both write a book if you haven’t already.

Maybe you are a synonym for saint :). These were wonderfully done, which come not from saying something but from feeling it. While people say expressing what you truly believe is easy, I say it is hard to say it just right, which is what you’ve done.
I don’t know who you are but what you are, is something else. Beautiful work.

Hi Vickie, nice sentiments to the men who have been in your life, Fathers day isn’t until Sept here in Australia, so I’ll save my testimonial until then.

Happy Anniversary! The poems were beautiful, just as you are. Thinking of you too, I know how much you miss your dad. I’m sure he’d tell you, “I love you, Sug.”

Lovely and very touching, Ms. Vickie. It’s wonderful to see someone who realizes how truly blessed she’s been, and expresses it so feelingly.

Happiness is often measured by family. You are indeed blessed to have such a loving one. Happy anniversary, my dear. I wish you many, many more!

Those were very nice poems. I am guessing that you wrote them yourself. The one for your Father could be from me for my Annie. I’d like to post it on my blog with credit for where it came from. This is my first Father’s Day alone.

Those words come from the heart. Poetry sometimes says it best, doesn’t it. Happy Anniversary and Happy Father’s Day.
