Beyond the Crossroads is born | Filed under General

Today I am going to focus on some positive aspects, people were able to follow the trail I left behind and find my new home. It does not matter that I put the cart before the horse and Mr. Haney sent the search party out for me. It seems that he and Steel Cowboy stopped by before I even had a post up. Trucker Bob was so kind and gave me a link yesterday at my new place not knowing he was throwing a little fire under my feet. It seems I said do A when it should have been B but all is well and “Beyond the Crossroads” is ready to Rock and Roll. One small thing we all need to remember is anytime we move anywhere new there is always still some unpacking and rearranging to take place so please be patient as this takes place.

Now for the real story of “Beyond the Crossroads” - When I knew I would be leaving The Porch and moving on the issue of what my domain would be came up of course I had been thinking for some time about that. Everyone goes about selecting their domain name in many different ways but I knew I wanted something that I would never have to change no matter what. It had to be gender neautral for example a writer here could be either male or female or it could become a group blog if I should ever desire to develope it into one. It fits that but then it gets even better did you really think I would let it end there…not me…..Crossroads means

cross·road Audio pronunciation of “crossroads” ( P ) Pronunciation Key (krôsrd, krs-)

2. crossroads (used with a sing. or pl. verb)

I live in a very small rural community at an intersection of two roads, if you ask me I say it is remotely located.

and if that is not good enough remember I will be turning the very young 50 next month, and I am getting younger and loving life more each day so that is where the “Beyond the Crossroads” comes from.

By the way, for the males who have harems read the defination close….you have harems I have a community. I outgrew the porch and needed a community, yes it is filled with friends male and females and I do enjoy each one and hope that you do as well. It seems that many miss the porch and one of the neat featues I have here is you can select what skin you would like when you visit me here so just click on Skin This Site at the top of the right and select The Porch and you can visit me on The Porch as the journey continues at “Beyond the Crossroads.

  13. MyAvatars 0.2 Dick Says:

Miss Vicki, this looks very nice! I am getting the items in the sidebar so small that they are not readable on my screen except for the titles. I don’t know what the reason is for that. I have a large monitor so run a fairly high resolution but I’ve never had this problem with other sites. I will get this new one onto my Blogroll and remove the old porch from it.. You are Movin-On!

  14. MyAvatars 0.2 Vince Says:

Love the new digs! And the thing with different skins is totally f****g cool! It so rocks! I’m debating between the dapit or sunset. So many choices!

Can’t wait to see where the crossroads leads. Shall we go left, right, or straight on ahead. As long as we don’t go back, then we’re moving!

  15. MyAvatars 0.2 Greg Says:

And let’s not forget the significance of “Crossroads” In music.

Robert Johnson penned the great song that later became Clapton’s signature song. Some say it is where he (Johnson) met the devil and made the deal that turned him into the legendary blues artist that he became.

    As Mr. Johnson wrote:

I went down to the crossroads,
    Fell down on my knees.
I went down to the crossroads,
    Fell down on my knees.
Asked the Lord above for mercy,
    “Save me if you please.”

I went down to the crossroads,
    Tried to flag a ride.
I went down to the crossroads,
    Tried to flag a ride.
    Nobody seemed to know me,
    Everybody passed me by.

    I’m going down to Rosedale,
Take my rider by my side.
    I’m going down to Rosedale,
Take my rider by my side.
    You can still barrelhouse, baby,
    On the riverside.

You can run, you can run,
    Tell my friend-boy Willie Brown.
You can run, you can run,
    Tell my friend-boy Willie Brown.
And I’m standing at the crossroads,
    Believe I’m sinking down.

I understand more than you could possibly know the need for constructive change. Lately, a want to escape the ties that bind has been overwhelming. Glad to see you found an interesting alternative to your front porch. I wish you happiness and light, my dear. I shall be by to visit often.

  17. MyAvatars 0.2 Karen Says:

Hey Vickie - Mike and I want to know where the lemonade is…

  18. MyAvatars 0.2 Dick Says:

It looks good from here except the text in the sidebar is too small to read. I can see the headers but not the text. My monitor is large & I run it at a fairly high resolution but I have not had this problem on any other sites.

  19. MyAvatars 0.2 Cecilia Says:

Another new home for my wonderful Vickie! Glad I found you in here (through Bubba’s latest post).

I love your new name: “Beyond the crossroads”…in life, this is where we would like to be at as it signifies knowing some of the truths in ourselves. Or, at the very least, having found confidence to take the steps we need to take in order to move forward.

Looking forward to reading you in here, dear Vickie.

    ((hugs))

  20. MyAvatars 0.2 RD Says:

Howdie, Miss Vickie. I’ve been out here lurking, watching you move. I like the dogwood skin the best. Can almost smell the blossoms. Crossroads - seems we’ve run across a few of them over the last few years. We’re at another one and its starting to feel that the road might begin to narrow over the next rise. The next couple intersections will require that I shred all selfishness and self pity and wrap my heart and head together. I know I can carry the weight, but it sure is soothing to read your words and share your thoughts. We love you Vickie, you are a beautiful lady.

  21. MyAvatars 0.2 Deb Says:

You are so clever! I LOVE your new site with all the “bells and whistles.” You are always in my thoughts.

  24. MyAvatars 0.2 Grey Biker Says:

Good pick for a domain name. I have your new link added too.

  25. MyAvatars 0.2 Sally Says:

    I’m not too smart!!

Glad I stopped by as I’d forgotten to change your address. Will do it now, and here’s hoping you’re having a good day, Ms. Vickie! ((HUGS))
