Tuesday’s Treats | Filed under General

I am a very complex female who does not look my age and has many interests which you will soon find out. I love people and have always been a “social butterfly” surrounding myself with others. Recently I found, I actually like and love myself and can enjoy quality time alone. This time is even welcomed for I am learning to be selfish and take time for myself. In 1989 while climbing the ladder toward success in my career along came a medical disease , Missy, far bigger than I to remind me of my place in this world. I wonder if most of you react the same way I do when I hear someone has a medical condition similiar to Missy—–the first thing I feel is sorrow. Please don’t respond that way for me because I am a much better person these days. Yes I have lost many things but I have gained so much along the way . I might share more of this from time to time for I never really know just what I will say when I begin to write it just flows.

This is not to be all boring as and you can find a little fun if you like to hop around cyberspace. A social butterfly I am but guess what my mother did not select a very popular or common name for me. Gee according to Name Statisistics

You find Victoria is the #116 most common female name.
0.18% of females in the US are named Victoria.
Around 229500 US females are named Victoria

Of course I took care of that as I have a very common last name. If you are curious about yours then don’t miss out on the opportunity to find out how out common or uncommon your name is.
Moving right along on the subjsect on names we will see just how well I do with names. Don’t worry I know not many people would have a pet named Smoltz. I chose to name my very spoiled cat forJohn Smoltz, my favorite Braves Baseball Pitcher. You will hear more about this later but I know I named my child right. The name smoltz for an animal means……..

Yours is a very resourceful animal who is basically a loner and has a strong sense of responsiblilty. Your pet is exceptionally loyal and affectionate. You won’t have to worry about this pet straying far from home. Your pet has a highly developed sixth sense, especially when it comes to home and family. This animal is very tenacious and intensely loyal. This is a tolerant and affectionate animal who cares about his/her appearance and prefers beautiful surroundings. This is a shy, affectionate animal with a gentle soul. Your pet is best suited
to a tension-free enviornment. This is a sensitive, psychic animal who intuitively responds to your feelings and moods.

Not too bad for my first time exposure………keep coming by for more of this Sassy Georiga Girl.

When all else fails and you have little to say you can always start back from the begining of your blogging days. This was reprinted from Always Victoria, April 20, 2004 but it also opened the doors and shared a little more of who I am and also reminded me of how much more Missy has taken. The flow with my writing is not at all as it once was and I struggle so with it but I refuse to give in. A few changes were made such as change the words Multiple Sclerosis to Missy as I have now give MS a personal name and of course the pictures were added today as I never posted pictures until the last year. I might from time to time pull out some of my old post and use when I am not feeling very creative or am just at an low as I am right now.

What is wrong with the response - I am sorry? I think it is a compassionate response if it is said from the heart?

    Loved the cat picture.

  2. MyAvatars 0.2 Karen Says:

I love reading anything you write, both old and new.

You know I believe that things happen for reasons. Looking back on my path, I can see some of the reasons I was given some of my challenges. One, I know was to become stronger, to see what I can accomplish despite the odds. Perhaps one of the reasons Missy came along was to help you get to know yourself and be “OK” with not being that social butterfly, to discover more about yourself (as you say, layers).

Smoltz is adorable and every time I think of the story of him and his girlfriend it makes me smile.

    Love & hugs!

I checked my name and it is #674. I’m sure it would be much higher if I checked it against male names in Italy.

Know what you mean about being in a creative low. I’m sure you’ll snap out of it soon.

  4. MyAvatars 0.2 Monica Says:

I’m back! Did you miss me? I missed you!!!

Take care and we need to catch up, friend…I’ll call you tonight or tomorrow night for sure if I fall asleep too early (got home at ten this morning).

    Take care, :) Monica

  5. MyAvatars 0.2 Teresa Says:

It is hard to be in a slump, but we love you anyway!

  6. MyAvatars 0.2 RD Says:

I like looking back at some of the things I’ve written. Sometimes I don’t recognize myself. I’ve also learned that peoples reaction to other’s misfortunes are an emotional cocktail of fear and guilt. They fear for their own unknown paths and exhibit true empathy for a freind in distress that they have failed to protect, however unreasonable that is. It’s a reversal of fortunes that the victim ends up soothing the unaffected.

  7. MyAvatars 0.2 Dawn Says:

I found the name statistics interesting. Thanks for sharing it.

Vickie, you are a beautiful person inside and out. You have taught me a lot about myself and others. I can thank you for that.

I am sorry that you are feeling low now. Is there anything I can do to help ? I would give you the shirt off of my back.

The pic of Smoltz is really cute. I love his green eyes.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you !

    *HUGS*

  8. MyAvatars 0.2 Sally Says:

I’m so very thankful for anything you write for us, and that you refuse to give in, or up. You’re a special, wonderful lady. I enjoy visiting the porch - and, one day we might just do it in person! (Hugs)

  9. MyAvatars 0.2 Dick Says:

Posts from the past are new to most of your newer readers & unless they refer to specific events we know are from the past most of us would never know.

Annie & a friend of hers who also developed rheumatoid arthritis in her 20s called it Art. You can often do a lot more than some would think it you don’t just give up. We asked her first rheumatologist what should we expect, that she would be a little old lady in a wheel chair by the time she was 30. He said that would happen only if she wanted to do that. She never gave up and I think lived her life as fully as a person without such a disease could. I sure miss her.

  10. MyAvatars 0.2 bubba Says:

Ok girlfriend. I know that mood. Don’t make me come over there and squeeze ya outta it. Smile or so help me God. I’ll send the very first angel I come across to go over there and tickle ya. You know I got my ways. Picture this. A 56 yr old man naked and dancing around a fire yelling tickle her, tickler her, tickle her. hehehe

  11. MyAvatars 0.2 veronica Says:

We’re sisters and we share the same uncommon name. Victoria I love you and am beside you all the way. It’s not always easy, I know. Victoria Veronica

  12. MyAvatars 0.2 deni Says:

My real name ‘Denise’ is # 74, which I was surprised about since I know very few women with that name.

My nickname, Deni is ‘very rare’.

I am sorry you are feeling low, I pray that you have a brighter day today and are feeling better.

    *hugs*

  13. MyAvatars 0.2 Joe Cowboy Poet Says:

Awwww sweetie, don’t let it get you down. Your writing is a reflection of the person you have evolved to from those early days. In fact, I find that your writing has become somewhat more personal and at the same time insightful into the struggles of living with Missy if one takes the time to read between the lines.

Keep smilin’ Miss Vickie, I love ya much. Hugs, love and prayers.

  14. MyAvatars 0.2 FTS Says:

My real name came in at #40, my “aka” came in at #424, and my last name is rare. Hmmm…

Hey, since you’re a Braves fan… y9ou know Millwood is now pitching for my beloved Rangers, right? :)

  15. MyAvatars 0.2 susan Says:

    Vickie,
I enjoyed the old post. I only started reading you last spring, so it is neat to see this.
Hope the sun comes out from behind the clouds soon and warms you up some.

  16. MyAvatars 0.2 Walker Says:

Its a new post for me and many others :D I was # 43
    Forget the last name LOL
    Victoria is a nice name.
    Something regal about it

  17. MyAvatars 0.2 carol Says:

Take care of Victoria(A.K.A. # 116) for she is a wonderful woman, who has so much to offer to herself and others. Love from Carol(A.K.A. # 18) P.S. thanks for this cool link.

  18. MyAvatars 0.2 Sally Says:

Thinking of you, Ms. Vickie. I hope you’ll be back soon. :)

  19. MyAvatars 0.2 jac Says:

    Nice name statitics, Vicky!

It is a lovely post and the pic of the kitty is very cute.

  20. MyAvatars 0.2 wanda Says:

Wanda is the #87 most common female name. Which I find quite hard to believe. I don’t know ANY other Wanda’s.
Wow, I din’t even realize this was a re-run until I got to the end. I guess for some of us, old is new. I kinda like it that way, don’t you?

  21. MyAvatars 0.2 The Fat Lady Sings Says:

I understand how having a chronic problem can, on occasion limit you. Today is another one of ‘those’ kind of days for me. It comes in cycles - a bad week is a bad week. I do hope you are feeling up to snuff today. Spring looks like it has finally arrived, and it would be a pity not to enjoy its warm breezes. I have opened up the house so I can smell all the green, and savor the rich, wonderful scent of earth being overturned. I love it - it breathes life in to me; especially on those days when the pain tries to take center stage.

I loved the Name Statistics. It seems there are only about 11K women in the US with my first name. Nice to be a tad different. And I adored your kitty picture! Such a discerning feline - hanging out by the computer. Does he blog as well? Perhaps he gets up in the wee hours of the night sending emails to all his critter friends. You never know – we once had a cat that would go out clubbing at night while wearing his tiny mouse-hide boots. He had a preference for biker bars, we discovered. Or at least, that’s the story we always told people Take care, my dear.

  22. MyAvatars 0.2 Tracey Says:

Tracey is the #280 most common female name. And my maiden name is #9! As for my nickname it’s “very rare” and “unique”.

I love these kinds of things, thanks for sharing Vickie. :)
I am like you in that I consider my disease as a life lesson and a chance to learn and gain new insights. I hate hearing someone say they’re sorry when they hear it because as odd as it sounds, i’m NOT. Yes, I have bad days/weeks. I have times when I can’t help but feel bad for myself. But all in all, it’s not such a bad thing. ;)

  23. MyAvatars 0.2 Peter Says:

Hi Vickie, I have returned from my trip to Victoria, (A State of Australia) where I had the pleasure of seeing my daughter Vicki as well as lots of friends and family.
You should not shy away from our “sorrow” about your Missy. don’t mistake it for pity, we are sorry to see the things that Missy does to you and the restrictions she places upon you, but we do not pity you, quite the opposite in fact we can only admire your spirit and vitality.

  24. MyAvatars 0.2 Houston Says:

    Hey, sugah.

Blogging is a lot like a cocktial party, and the conversation group is always changing. Periodically we need to reintroduce ourselves for the benefit of anyone just meeting us.

My people say the measure of a wo(man) is not where they are, but how far have they come. To that I would add, the only wealth you can accummulate that has any value is friends, and you’re certainly a rich woman.

Your arms may be tired from drawing the water, but your well is far from dry. Good luck this next year.

  25. MyAvatars 0.2 cheryl Says:

What gorgeous green eyes that kitty has! I LOVE Houston’s last few sentences. You listen to that, you hear?

  26. MyAvatars 0.2 Monica Says:

It was great catching up with you this weekend. You rest up and I can’t wait to see some more of your writing soon, friend.

    Thinking of you.

  27. MyAvatars 0.2 Sallie Says:

Pardon me for not being here often. Time slips by… which is often not mine. Each day I think of you.. with a smile and say a prayer. ..and I remember these words you wrote all to well.

“When all else fails and you have little to say you can always start back from the begining of your blogging days.”

ThanX for being! You have been such a good Blog-Friend/ and BIG support from my beginning. Wish I could do more to ease your pain. You brighten so many days when yours are so dark at times. BIG Hugs Sent!

  28. MyAvatars 0.2 carolyn Says:

My name was listed at #42 for the females, but oddly, if I shorten it to Carol, it comes up at #18.
