Getting back to “OUR PORCH and fun” | Filed under General
The last time we actually enjoyed visiting here on “Our Porch” for some fun I asked a few questions. Many of my friends that came by for a visit chose to play along while others were wall flowers instead of playing stood in the corner chatting. It matters not for they are friends and come to visit and when they come they leave comments but then I have those that just peek in to see what fun we have here and never play or comment. I often wonder about them and wonder what it would take to get them involved, any ideas are welcomed and the last time I checked we offended only a few—well with the exception of Gray Biker when he lost his way to the bathroom, Bob for posting pictures he might have taken here, Karen for stealing lemonade, and I know Jude must have told a few jokes but most likely Walker had a few to share as well. All in all it seems when “Our Porch” is open we all enjoy ourselves or I know I do but it is of course not as much fun when things gets heavy and Missy puts in her appearance. What I did not tell you when we were all together here for fun one of the questions asked during the games just might be coming back and require you acting as host or hostess here on “The Porch”
Little did you know when I asked you to name one blogger who does not visit us here at the porch that you think would enjoy OUR PORCH that I would be back asking you to act as host and/or hostess here. Yes I would like each of you to contact the blogger you indicated and invite them to visit. So Karen, Joe Cowboy, Tracey, Teresa, RD, Melissa, Jude, Walker, Windfall Woman, Ellen, and Carolyn you played so well you now have a little assignment. Monica, Susan and TFLS also made suggestions but guess what all three of the ones they suggested already visit so they escaped but only this time. I even thought about asking each of you to guest post here and have you invite them over on that day and do your special introduction but was afraid (yes even I do get afraid) that you might say no more playing for me. However what do you think about that would you like to invite them over and introduce them to us, if so please by all means let me know. I’m looking for a few good people to relieve me here from time to time. Now where have we all heard that phrase looking for a few good men, notice I said people although I do like men. No not that way, behave yes you know who you are.

Also recently I was reminded I owed my special friend Bob some cookies for taking care of things while Missy was in charge of me. I had to make a few calls but was able to locate a place I could get them for him and make certain they were just what he would order himself.

SC I always had wondered just where you got your name from….now I know. I always liked it but even more now that I know there is so much significance behind it. Bet you would not even change it if you it if you ever get the Iron Butt award from your local HOG group.

Work does cut into the playing and is no fun but so necessary.

WFW, So glad you visited us here today. Having gone back and read through the archieves in your blog I knew how you got your name. I think it is wonderful to see someone who came into a “windfall” make the decisions you have. As I can see you have changed very little about you other than it allows you to be an even better person and more giving when you feel it is appropriate. You are special as few make the type of choices you have. I always said I would if it were to happen to me and I would hope to. I never did see where you came into your windfall did I miss it or have you not discussed it? You might also not be able to but just something I wondered about…..you know inquiring minds, that I have one of.

Hello Dawn, I love the way you came up with your name it reminds me of something very special. Few people have ever called me Victoria and I had a dear friend who called me Victoria from the first time he met me and said I would always be Victoria so that was how Always Victoria came to be.

G’day Vickie, (the G’day is because it’s Australia Day) nice to see you back.
My site name came about because a dear friend made me a brass embossed plaque which sits proudly at my front door announcing “Holties House”
Petrol, (our name for Gas) is $1.16 per Litre, that’s a bit more than 1/4 Gallon.
Cds and DVDs, but only because I have very large collections already are the things I Waste money on.
Right now my mind is centered on what a good idea you have here and what a fine person you are.
Loud is out for me, I love peace and quiet.
Peter I must tell you when I read your greeting of G’Day Vickie it brought tears to my eyes because I have missed the G’Day greeting for a long time and you brought be back some very special memoreis. Several years ago I along with one of my dearest friends from Canada who had MS put together a large “Meet N Greet” in Las Vegas for a group of chatters and their spouse or SO or just themself if they would like to actually meet. Over 240 of us met and one of my best friends came from Australia with his wife. He and his wife renewed their vows while we were in Vegas and my hubby and I stood up for them. I loved the week we had there and that I actually got to meet him and his wife.
Sorry I got way off track but the G’Day brought back those memories and I guess my new dealings with Missy added to it. Sad to say since then we have all drifted apart as some have passed away and then so many have progressived. I still take out my pictures and smile for I have such special memories there.
You have a very special way that your name was obtained and I know it brings memories to you when you use it. I say nothing is a wast if it brngs us pleasure and happiness.
