Welcome to a place of peace and positive thoughts, here for you all day, every day, where you can have your own refuge from the stress and strife of the daily grind. Always Victoria is a place where the love of life and the knowledge of Life Is Simply Good never dies, and it’s here to bring you back up on those days when life may be bringing you down, to keep your spirit uplifted when you feel the need to refresh your perspective, or to just reach out to you.
To live in the present what do we need to do? Mary Manin Morrissey says “Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”
So today I will shut the door on yesterday,
Its sorrows and mistakes.
I will lock within its gloomy walls
Past failures and mistakes.
And now I throw the key away,
And seek another room.
And furnish it with hope and smiles,
And every spring-time bloom.
No thought shall enter this abode
That has a taint of pain.
And envy, malice, and distrust
Shall never entrance gain.
I have shut the door on yesterday
And thrown the key away.
Tomorrow holds no fear for me,
Since I have found today.
So remember the song by Aerosmith Amazing?
Performer Aerosmith
Title Amazing
I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin’ insane
Tryin’ to walk through
The pain
When I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah,I thought I could leave but couldn’t get out the door
I was so sick and tired
Of livin’ a lie
I was wishin that I
Would die
[Chorus:]
It’s Amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It’s Amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you’ll be alright
It’s Amazing
And I’m sayin’ a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
That one last shot’s a Permanent Vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life’s a journey not a destination
And I just can’t tell just what tomorrow brings
You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn’t listen to all that righteous talk, oh yeah
I was out on the street,
Just tryin’ to survive
Scratchin’ to stay
Alive
[Chorus]
Desperate hearts, desperate hearts
So just maybe you need to remember Life’s a journey, not a destination and enjoy today in a place where you will find Life Is Simply Good. You can, I did.

Amazing is one of my favorite songs, such strong lyrics. That was a beautiful poem as well.
I think I’ll stay here all day, if you don’t mind. You’ve truly made a wonderful place here and I thank you for the refuge.
Love & Hugs!

Good advice. It’s something I work on constantly, and reminders are always helpful.

Why is it so hard to leave yesterday/yesteryear behind??? I think because we can look back and not feel the negative and romanticize what we do remember. Theres nothing to fear, nothing to lose as it’s all past and cannot harm you now. Unfortunately that false sense of security seems to draw people in and keep them there.
I much prefer the ups, downs and sideways of today and cannot wait for tomorrow. I feel if we take a child’s perspective that each day is an adventure, a big ol’ present to unwrap and play with, that we can truly make the most of each day as it comes.

We want change, yet stand on our own feet. We can be our own worst enemy sometimes. The fear of letting go… we hold on to the familiar, even though we may be miserable in it.
Good thoughts.

WOnderful Post Vicki. We are our own harsh judge. We are harder on ourselves that anyone else. Learn to forgive ourselves and find blessed peace.

Great post, once again Vickie! You HAVE made this little place a refuge, and I love coming here to visit you. I use my past hurts and foibles as learning tools and as a personal yardstick to measure growth of my spirit. Things happened, I own the pain and the growth, but I don’t dwell on what happened, I look forward to what I know now.
Love to you, Soul Lady.

Sometimes hard to live for this day when you know what tomorrow may bring….

what a wonderful post and thought - thank you
I needed to hear that today. Actually I think we all need to hear and remember that everyday.

Such a GREAT post! Gordon Lightfoot has a song with the line, “Any day is the right time/to make way for a new tomorrow”. It’s so nice to read something positive. I think we’re all drained from CNN 24/7 on the flooding. This was a nice break!!!

Great post! I have to agree Michael. Too much news can be very draining on our souls, this is definitely a pick me up.

Arrowsmith–Those are my boys. Think I’ll dig out my CD. Figured I’d come check your place out ’cause a lot of people I read read you and vice versa. I like it here, so I’ll come back and hang out!

Mistakes and personal accountability are how we grow.

What a lovely poem…
What I love about you so much is the way you seem to stay focused on the things that matter and the things that make us better people.

We learn from mistakes, and the journey has its up and downs. This whole year I would like to forget, but it is an opportunity for growth.

As usual, right there when needed most. Thanks.

Aerosmith must have been going through the same. “With the blink of an eye you finally see the light.” You think and think and constantly repeat the same thoughts in your head. You know that you are not happy and you want to do something about it, but you can’t seem to find the solution. You listen to the advise of other people, but you are not yet there. You hear their words, but they don’t really help you in your particular situation. And then the journey takes you to that moment that you are finally able to understand. And all of a sudden you read about so many similar experiences and you know those people were right. And around you you see people struggling with the same or similar problems. You want to help them and give them advise. But you know that they wont understand your words, because they have to go down the road alone, so they too will see the light and be all right.

I try to learn from my mistakes but it doesn’t always work and I never look ahead past today. One day at a time is all I can handle.

I love this post, that song and that poem…you are truly amazing Miss Victoria.
