In their heart so many thought they were doing the right thing again when they made their choice to stay in their home again. The history some have there we can only try and understand but will never for we do not live that life. Give me one hour with Se7en’s grandmother who is in her 90’s and chose to stay behind,I’ll understand better than I do now. I imagine I understand and have empathy better than most anyway. Please if you can not say something nice or good about these people who are suffering and have lost so much then say nothing.
I came across some lyrics that many people felt were appropriate going into Katrina but would never feel this way again.
Riding The Storm
[Music: Kasparek, Lyrics: Kasparek]
Breaking the waves, a ride on the wild raging sea
Playing with fortune, oh, what a lust to be free
Flashlights and thunder, the pattering rain on the hull
From a stormy horizon we get our course
The cry of freedom
Face in the wind, we’re riding the storm
We’ll stay our course whatever will come
Wandering souls in the sea of the damned
Death or glory, oh, oh, we’re riding the storm
Cracks in the planks, the rigging moves up wards and
Staggering masts, the pounding splash of the prow
The wind in our sails, our flag flies high on the top
From a stormy horizon we get our course
The cry of freedom
Face in the wind, we’re riding the storm
We’ll stay our course whatever will come
Wandering souls in the sea of the damned
Death or glory, oh, oh, we’re riding the storm
Yes so many had seen storms come and go and never left before and felt this would be just like the others. I hope WE all have learned a very important lesson here. Listen and most important follow the advice of those who have knowledge.
A special thanks to the following who made contributions to my efforts in my Blogging for Hurricane Relief. Bob from Over the Road, Schnoodlepooh from Jack, Teresa from The Life and Times of A Cool Single Mom
and my family. A very special thanks to Teresa’s employer for matching her donation 3:1.
I would also like to thank the many who linked my site and raised the awareness of my efforts. You will not be forgotten and I appreciate your time and contribution in helping me make this successful. Without each of you this could not have been as successful as it was.
Always Victoria with your help raised $650.00. Hurricane Katrina: Blog for Relief Weekend Thursday, September 1 - Monday, September 5 raised $1,296,459 in their efforts.

Well said Vickie! People who spout off negative stuff about others should walk a mile in the others’ shoes first. Show some damn compassion, people!!

I so agree about negativity - I don’t want to hear or see it. Mind boggling really what those poor people went through. And, yes, how do we know what we would have done? We don’t. Good for you raising the money; you are truly and angel of mercy.

Can’t agree with the right choice when a storm that big is arriving and you live below sea level. Having grown up on the coast you RUN from hurricanes. Now we see the results and they are frightening.

God bless folks who’ve helped through donations of items and/or their time and efforts. God bless folks like you, whom put forth the heart and care to pull so many together to help. But most of all, God bless all the folks affected by this horribleness. The human spirit is a hard thing to break, and I am sure there are many on the verge. If it weren’t for people like you, they all would be broken today.

Having at one time refused an evacuation order myself, I have no right to judge anyone else on staying or leaving. I pray for those who stayed and those who evacuated.
What you and many others have done from the heart is truly amazing.:bananadance::thumbsup:
