The problem with waiting until tomorrow is that when it finally arrives, it is called today. Today is yesterday’s tomorrow. The question is what did we do with its opportunity? All too often we will waste tomorrow as we wasted yesterday, and as we are wasting today. All that could have been accomplished can easily elude us, despite our intentions, until we inevitably discover that the things that might have been have slipped from our embrace a single, unused day at a time.
Each of us must pause frequently to remind ourselves that the clock is ticking. The same clock that began to tick from the moment we drew our first breath will also someday cease. Time is the great equalizer of all mankind. It has taken away the best and the worst of us without regard for either. Time offers opportunity but demands a sense of urgency.
When the game of life is finally over, there is no second chance to correct our errors. The clock that is ticking away the moments of our lives does not care about winners and losers. It does not care about who succeeds or who fails. It does not care about excuses, fairness or equality. The only essential issue is how we played the game.
Regardless of a person’s current age, there is a sense of urgency that should drive them into action now—this very moment. We should be constantly aware of the value of each and every moment of our lives - moments that seem so insignificant that their loss often goes unnoticed.
We all like to think we still have all the time we need. We still have lots of chances—lots of opportunities—lots of years to show what we can do. For most of us, there will be a tomorrow, a next week, a next month, and a next year. But unless we develop a sense of urgency, those brief windows of time will be sadly wasted, as were the weeks and months and years before them. There isn’t an endless supply! The thing is we never know when the supply does end.
So as you think of your dreams and goals, begin today to take those very important first steps to making them all come to life. Because now is all we know for certain we have and do we want to have a life of regrets?
TODAY
Since yesterday is in the past
And tomorrow you might not see
You need to live to the fullest
This day God has granted to thee.
Be loving and kind to all you meet
Spread cheer and joy on your way
Say, “I love you” to your loved ones
And for peace on earth you should pray.
Share your faith with lost ones as
God bids all His children to do
He wants not one soul left behind
One might be saved because of you.
A lonely person you could visit
To help brighten up their day
You could feed one who’s hungry
Offer a place for someone to stay.
There is so much that you can do
Before this day is through
Only but for the grace of God
One of these just might be you.
Be thankful for all your blessings
Never take them for granted at all
God gives you all you need to have
And He will ‘til His final call.
until later….

As someone who is working on making my tomorrow my today, I can attest to the fact all of those tomorrows soon become yesterdays filled with “what ifs” if nothing is done to realize them.
Excellent.

Great post Vickie! The older I get, the more aware I am of living in the moment, and not taking tomorrow for granted. The thing is, without sounding melodramatic about it, somebody’s forever could be today, even your own, you know? God bless you my friend!

Very well said, and beautifully written. Regrets aren’t good, they eat away at our souls and we need to let them go and live today as if it were our last…
Love & Hugs!

tick tock tick tock. You are absolutely right about that. I think of it often. At age 52, I am realizing that my life is whizzing by. I think a lot about the time I have left. I’ve got a lot of thing still left to do.

We should all heed your good advice. As usual, you give us things to think about. Indeed, yesterday is gone, and tomorrow may not come. Today is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad.
Much love to you Ms. Vickie.

You are so right. My uncle just found out that he has bone cancer. He had to go to the hospital today to start 10 months of regular chemotherapy. Last month my uncle and his wife still organized a huge party at their place and everything was still fine. Their two daughters are teenagers. He is enrolled in a Masters program to get an academic degree. Now an awful time is awaiting him and chances are 1 on 2. All from one day to the other. He found out about it about a week ago, now his life will change completely and probably it will never be the same again.

September 5th, 2005 at 9:36 am
I just woke up and I came here first.
Now I’m confused and lost. Today , Tomorrow , Yesterday….:fryingpan:
Yesterday is water under the bridge it’s gone and there is nothing you can do to change that fact.
Tomorrow in not here so why deal with tomorrow until it shows up.
I live for today because tomorrow never comes. Today is the most important part of life because today is where it’s happening. Today is where life is and tomorrow is just a posibility.
Damn I should have stayed in bed. NEED COFFEE!!!!!!!!
Have a nice labor day
