What Can I Do Today | Filed under General

There are many things that I can do today to make this day something special, to add something to it that will be memorable in my life. I can add quality to any day of my life whenever I choose, and there are many ways to do so. They don’t always take a lot of time or effort, either. For example, I can

* read a short story or poem by one of my favorite writers

* sit quietly for a spell and listen to soothing music

* sincerely compliment someone for something about them

* write a quick, short letter to a friend I’ve neglected

* throw away something that has no use to me, but that I’ve been keeping around anyway

* go for a brisk walk to get my blood flowing and clear my head

* eat a small something that you really love to eat (perhaps chocolate or ice cream?)

* read something motivational or inspiring

* look at something beautiful very closely–a flower, a sunset, a painting or a photograph, or whatever else I find

* spend three or four minutes remembering something fun or exciting that happened to you

* talk to a child, and listen closely to what the child says–not trying to teach, but trying to learn

* send an email to someone who could use some cheering up

* watch a funny show that doesn’t use humor that depends on insulting or belittling other people

* listen to a few uplifting songs that talk about life and living

* plant a seed or a seedling

* spend a few minutes writing down my short-term and long-term goals

* call up someone I haven’t talked to in a while

* give something to a worthy charity

* invite a friend to a cup of coffee or tea

* talk to an elderly person, listen closely to what they have to say and learn from them

These are just a few ideas, and the world is full of many more ways that we can bring quality into our lives. Remember that a quality day is made up of many quality moments, whether they come from working hard at jobs or finding ways to add something different to our days. You can choose to add quality moments that will brighten your day and give you something positive and enjoyable to look back upon.

Your day, of course, is in your hands. You’re limited only by your own imagination and your own desire as to how many quality moments you’re able to put into each day of your life. Personally, when I notice a day dragging, I usually try to find some way to add something positive to the day, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Those few minutes often make my whole day much more enjoyable, as they add enthusiasm and energy to the rest of the day!

Now I need you to help me add to this list and watch it grow with even more ideas of how we can spend our time for quality moments. I have only 20 and would like to expand this to 100 so help is needed. Can you help me achieve this goal? List here in the comments some ideas or indicate if you will be posting them on your blog. Please just let me know how I can find my 100 ideas that you will help me with. You have always risen to a challenge before and never let me down, so please don’t start this time.

Life Is Simply Good and getting better.

    * Clean up your place and consider it a new start

    * Listen closely to one of your favourite songs, you don’t know the words to

    * Listen closely to your heart: If something doesn’t feel entirely o.k., but you don’t know why, still trust you heart about it. Think whether there are such situations in your life.

    * Take a picture: Try out something creative that you haven’t tried yet

    * Try out a new recepy

    * Clean the windows, and look at how much more light is coming in now, how beautiful the world looks outside

    * Make grandma smile by eating one of her famous chocolate chip whisker cookies.

    * Take care of you baby sister so your mom can go shopping for clothes with dads credit card.

    * If someone makes a Beaver face, see if they come close to really looking like beaver. My friend Alice makes a good Beaver face, just hope she don’t eat wood!

    * Eating Suzi-Q’s always makes me feel good, and my hamster Duckie, because he’s smiling.

    * Call someone you love and tell them that you love them, but if you forgot the phone number that might be a problem, I think.

You’ve hit some of what I need and can do.

    * Call a loved one just to say I love you.

    * Smile at a stranger.

    * Take 5 minutes, sit outside and soak in your surroundings. All the beautiful nature.

    * Take a friend to lunch, your treat just for the heck of it.

    * Relax, and close your eyes for 10 minutes. Let your mind wonder and pretend you’re somewhere beautiful like a beach, walking, talking, and holding hands with someone you love.

Excellent post, Vickie!!! Love ya! *HUGS*

    What a great challenge Vickie!

Look at someone right in their eyes, and try to see/feel the spirit that is there inside…ignoring all the humanly faults.

Stand in the outdoors and close your eyes, paying attention to the breeze and what it does: feel it hug you, hear it sound like Angels playing in the leaves of the trees.

Watch an entire sunset (or sunrise) unfold, in silence. Thank God for your sight, and for His beautiful paintings.

Say a prayer with utmost good intent, for someone who causes you ill in any way.

Look at yourself in a mirror and say 3 things you love about yourself. (forget modesty, nobody but your own spirit can hear you)

Get out of bed in the morning resolving to smile at everyone you see that day. It does wonders for them, and for you.

    Hug with feeling, lots.

Pretend you are an Angel on earth… how would you treat people? And then treat them that way.

Deliberately put someone else first and see how good it makes you feel.

Do something really nice for someone and keep it a secret. From everyone including them.

Count every one of your blessings by writing them all down.

Take out your list of blessings and read them, adding to them if necessary.

Thank you so much Vickie, this has made me feel wonderful!

Read Vickie’s blog– she always has something nice to say, and on those rare occasions when she’s upset, she still says what she has to say in a nice way.

Maybe someday I’ll learn to be nice like that–

    One can always dream…
