Enjoy Your Life | Filed under General

We’ve been invited to participate in this life, to be present, one to another, and that’s all that’s expected of us. Our successes may bring us personal joy, but our value as persons lies only in our being. But living fully is more than just making an appearance, here—today. It’s celebrating our oneness—our ties to one another—our need for one another’s presence to complete our own. And we can be celebrants only when we’re involved and fully focused on the experience. We capture life’s gifts, its riches, when we are intent on the moment’s fullness. We miss what we most need when our hearts and minds are distracted. Don’t be too distracted for you will miss out on so much in life you need to enjoy life and with that in mind here is a little something along those lines….

Enjoy Your Life

Excerpt from a commencement address attributed to Brian Dyson, CEO of Coca Cola

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them work, family, health, friends, and spirit and you’re keeping all of these balls in the air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls — family, health, friends and spirit — are of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same.

You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.

How? Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.

Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.

Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give it; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also where you are going.

Don’t forget, a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

If you remember this and practice it you will soon be saying Life Is Simply Good.

Beautiful…it’s like I need to read your blog with coffee in the morning to start my day these days.

That was beautiful, Soul Lady! I especially love the glass and rubber ball analogy! Have a wonderful day full of living life to it’s fullest!

That’s too deep for a guy who lounges around on the sofa all day watching TV.

Regrettably, ideals can only be worthwhile goals. They seldom see actual fruition in experiences. But then you knew that, didn’t you? :wigglebrow:

Never stopped emailing Joe Cool, we can never have too many people who love us in this world. He needs all of you.
    Thanks

Your words are so much richer than the words of others. True confession. I never read the quoted excerpts but I devour your heart and read on life and all the rest. You’re big in the universe, evolved beyond measure. I love you

some beautiful thoughts here, vickie; and the analogy is very well made too :) the concept of love may not be shared by everyone though.

I’ve come to believe the older I get, that life is indeed fragile and we absolutely need that common thread to hold us together as one.

Beautiful words as usual, my friend. Thank you!

My balls of life look like something the cat drug in. I’m not sure how high they bounce, but they don’t really break that easy - maybe a few scuffs and cracks. I found out not too long ago that when my life’s particular challenges became clear, life got a whole lot simpler. The absolute joy of knowing your mission on God’s Green Earth is refreshingly humbling. It dulls the pain.

What a wondeful post filled with instructions to please one’s soul always. Life is good…we have the choice….and I’m so thankful I’ve made the right choice!

    Thanks again for the reminders!

    Much love….

You remind of so many things. I subscribe to the substance here.

Damn straight, alas I think we all need our goofy moments as well. :)

“Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.”

That is my life in a nutshell. Some chances were stupid, but still worth taking for the lesson anyway. They have enriched my life beyond belief, especially the ones that others thought were stupid when I knew they were solid.
