I have come to the realization recently that I am a very rich lady. Oh, I am not rich in the way that society says you are rich. I don’t have a big house, a fancy car, or a lot of money. I probably won’t have any of these things in the future either. Still, I am a very rich lady. There are times, in fact, when I feel like one of the richest people in the world.
My riches come from the heart and soul and not from money. When I go out of my house in the morning and hear the birds singing their praises to God, I know that I am a rich person.
When I look up to the sky and watch the glorious beauty of a sunrise or a sunset, I know that I am a rich person. When I cuddle with my husband on the couch, I know that I am a rich lady. When I hear those magic words “I love you” whispered in my ear, I know that I am a rich lady. When my cat purrs in my ear and falls asleep on my lap, I know that I am a rich lady. When I am able to cheer and help a friend or bring joy to another person, I know that I am a rich lady. When the child next door visits me and tells me how much he likes to come for a visit and his little face lights up with a smile, I know that I am a rich lady. When I write these words and know that they may help someone out there realize how rich they are, I know that I am a rich lady.
Remember then just how rich you are in this life. Love and joy and family and friends are worth more than any amount of money. Life itself is a priceless gift from God. Enjoy the true riches of life. Celebrate the treasure of your existence. In the end the only riches you can take with you from this world is the love, joy, and happiness you have created in it.
Be happy and rich in your life if you do then you are living your life’s passion and will be saying Life Is Simply Good. As we approach this holiday weekend, enjoy your time please be safe take some time for YOU and enjoy life for it is beautiful.
“In this world, it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.” Beecher
“That individual is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.” Henry David Thoreau
” Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” Oscar Wilde
” The first wealth is health” Ralph Waldo Emerson
I included the quote from Emerson on health because it is near and dear to me. I once told my former boss, a very wealthy lady, when she questioned me of the cost it would take to keep me working for her that there was two things money could not buy. There was nothing that could buy me good health or buy my soul. I completed my notice and went to work for another company and she later served time in Federal prison for Medicare Fraud.

Indeed! Yes, we are rich in what matters the most; I agree. It’s the things that money cannot buy that enriches us, our souls, our hearts, our feelings.
You always make me feel good! Therefore, I am rich beyond measure for having made friends with you. Life is simply good.
God Bless.

Well, Miss Victoria, her daddy surprised me and my daughter left this evening. He left early this morning and drove straight through and they’re staying out at base billeting tonight. I got to witness her reunion with him after all thanks to my friend Doug who took us to meet her father.
I’m sad and happy at the same time.
Question; I blogrolled you but it won’t let people access you–what may I have done wrong?

Yes, you are right, we are rich with what is important or matters most to us. Money can’t buy you health, happiness or love… it helps.. but it can’t do it alone. I am so glad that I can call you my friend.
Have a great holiday weekend !!

Hi Vickie. Yes, we are very rich in so many ways and it really is up to each one of us to realize that. We have to find happiness in whatever we do. It’s not money that can give you shoeboxes of the past filled with notecards and other mementos….it’s friends and family who do that and will continue to do so in filling up those boxes…
Wishing you a GREAT weekend.
BIG HUG to you, dear friend. xoxox

Yes so true. Those with money riches have to constantly work to keep it. Being rich in other ways only requires us to sit back and enjoy it, and that I do too. Have a great holiday weekend sweetie.

Ah, I am so glad my friend Xavier brought me here… I love this place you have Vickie. Great post, and so true! I often say how rich and how blessed I am in my heart and spirit ~ with the love of friends and family, and my God. Without that, and if I had all the money in the world, I would have NOTHING. Thank you for this entry.

Thank you for this reminder. I also try to live my life this way but have recently been in a bit of a rut and feeling sad about my health and some areas of my life. I have many riches and a lot to be thankful for… and have also seen former bosses get what they deserve after I walked away because I refuse to compromise my principles for a buck!!

It’s so true…there are those times, when you’re surrounded by friends and family and it feels so intoxicatingly good to be alive, and you say to yourself…THIS is heaven. When you feel that full of love, you know you’re rich. Thanks for posting this.

I forget about this a lot, particularly when I’m down in the dumps, which is when I should remember it most. Usually, and sadly, it takes something happening to me that threatens my safety to recognize the birds singing and the blue sky. I think I just get wrapped up in daily life and all the chores that come along with just getting through the week. I wish I could take notice more often. Like everything, it’s a choice I need to make more often.

You bring a richness into my life - thank you! Happy 4th of July. ((( hugs )))
