Friendship helped me to soar and shine | Filed under General

People are like stars… we all have our own special light that shines from within. Sometimes we find our light to be dim and we struggle to shine… but that is when we need the light shed from the other stars to help us light our path once again. A true light that comes from within, from our divine Maker is so brilliant that it penetrates into the souls of the other stars onto which it shines, leaving it’s impression for eternity. Are you shining for someone today? Yes I must say, I am shining for many people but there is one special friend, Billy Davis who took the photo for the skin called soar that has taught me many things in life which has allowed me to shine or soar as the sea bird does.

Billy most often called William or Sweet William has been a very good friend during some difficult times that I have encountered over the last several years. He has been and remains my mentor, hero, and friend. Our friendship is not the one that is typical to many for it is one that developed right here over the computer and we have had the pleasure of meeting once and you notice I said the meeting was a pleasure. The distance between us did not prevent a meeting but busy schedules do keep you from repeating them. That is true especially when things keep changing in life but that meeting served over time to be one of the many threads in life that continues to keep the stars shining or keep us soaring.

I call you Friend

If I call you friend,
You will always share a piece
of my heart.
I will always pride myself,
To always be true to you.
As much as I need friends,
So must you.

I will also share a place in your heart,
To be there whenever you need me.
I may not be there in flesh,
But I will always be there in spirit.

I will cope with your moods,
And try to understand your needs.

When you are angry,
I will laugh with you.
As sadness overwhelms you,
We will cry together.

If you feel down and kicked,
I will pick you up
and brush away your doubts.

When you think you can’t continue,
I will remind you that you can.

As you become discouraged,
I will boost your ego high.

At times when you wish to talk,
my attention will be all yours.

Being a friend I don’t take lightly,
It’s my desire, never a chore.

At times when you must mourn,
I shall mourn with you.

If you need some silence,
yet not be alone,
We will sit together
in the peace of quiet.

When you wish to play,
You will always have a playmate.

When you feel on top of the world,
I’ll pat your back and tell you,
you deserve to be.

You will never be completely alone,
A piece of me will always be with you.

One thing I can always give,
Is the gift of friendship
for you to accept.

Allow our friendship to make you smile,
Bring joy to your life
as you have to mine.

When you become confused
and lose your way,
Let me guide you
in the right direction.

Lean on me when you need support,
Let me share your sorrow and pain.

What good can a friend really be,
If you can’t understand
we will always care.

If I call you friend,
You will always know,
A friend you have in me.

Trials, temptations, disappointments — all these helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly. They not only test the fiber of character but strengthen it. Every conquering temptation represents a new fund of moral energy. Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before. So Sweet William Soar My Friend Soar.

Do you have a special friend in your life who has taught you about life and how to shine or soar? If so, please take time to let them know so and why not do so right now on your blog and please do a track back here so we can all follow the growth of this flight or see just how bright this star shines? Or If you do not use track back, leave a comment letting us know you will be posting about this so we can all visit. Yes Life Is Simply Good.

Beautiful poem. That is how I like to be as a friend and how much I value my friendships. I have the most wonderful friendships anyone could with for and each and everyone of them brings something into my life from which I can learn and grow and love. I never fail to tell my friends I love them and how much they mean to me. I always say that it is not in the big things that value is found, but in the little things - a word, a smile, a kind gesture and most importantly time. I find that the friends who were not prepared to waste time on me soon disappeared from my life. A friend takes time to be a friend and those are the friendships which will last forever and a day.

    A lovely post Vickie.

Just so you know: There’s a typo in your new banner: “sours” instead of “soars”. Oooooops.

Gorgeous, heartfelt post, sweet Vickie. Love that picture of you, you beautiful gal.

I love my friends. I could not survive without them nor would I want to. I have been on a mission to tell them exactly how I feel about them. It’s important…

YOU make my heart soar, Vicky. I know it’s been awhile now since I last visited and my own posts have been scant. My schedule has been crazy and tight which prevents me from blogging, and I really am thankful that you understand this (as you commented in my blog). But also know that YOU are thought of, cared for and prayed for. I am with you in spirit, my beautiful friend. Things have been tough for me but I only have to remember what you keep saying “Life is Simply Good” and that, my friend, truly does wonders for brightening my days.

    Love,
    Cecilia

I have so many freinds who have helped me soar over the years that it would take all day to type about them in my blog. :-)

And you know, that’s a good “problem” to have.

  10. MyAvatars 0.2 Chana Says:

My sister always told me that the best gift you can give yourself is a friend, just like the one you have described, not knowing she was one of my closest ones.

I hope people view me as that kind of friend. :)

  11. MyAvatars 0.2 Brenda Says:

Thank you for dropping by even when I’m hopelessly lazy and don’t come to visit as often as I’d like. Thank you for being my friend!

  12. MyAvatars 0.2 Sally Says:

Along with Brenda, I thank you also - sometimes I get lazy and don’t visit like I should. But, know that I think of you as a treasured new friend in my life. I pray for you, and give thanks for the lessons you teach us.

  13. MyAvatars 0.2 Old Horsetail Snake Says:

My Dad got me to shining shoes, which gave me sore knees. Does that count?

I’m so sorry I’ve not taken the time to comment more often. You are always so very uplifting. There are times I don’t feel worthy.

Yes Vickie, I have friends like that. I’m commenting on the blog of one of them right now.

Thank you for the inspiration that I should acknowledge more often.

    *HUGS*
