Birthmother’s Day | Filed under General

Today is a day very few people stop to think about but one that impacts many, some with sadness and others with happiness. It is Birthmother’s Day, the day before Mothers Day to signify that without birthmothers and their difficult choice, many adoptive mothers would not have had a chance to be mothers. I am not a mother but have always wanted to be one so when these days approach I always find myself a little more sad but over the years I have learned to deal and to allow for my passion to shine so that I might still be able to say Life Is Simply Good.

I was not aware of Birthmother’s Day until I read about it from Cherie of Point of Tears and you can read her story here. As I read this story, my heart broke for this lady and many others for the courage it takes to be so very unselfish to do as they have done and chosen to give life and allow for some reason we do not know for another to raise their child. Never judge these people because remember they chose to give life instead of the very easy choice that many take that of abortion. Today I salute you and many others Cherie. This is for you……

Your Mother is Always with You

She’s the whisper of the leaves
as you walk down the street.
She’s the smell of bleach
in your freshly laundered socks.

She’s the cool hand on your brow
when you’re not well.
Your mother lives inside your laughter.
She’s crystallized in every tear drop.

She’s the place you came from,
your first home.
She’s the map you follow
with every step that you take.

She’s your first love
and your first heart break,
and nothing on earth can separate you.

Not time—Not space.
Not even adoption will ever separate you
from your birth mother.
She carried you inside of her.

Such a beautiful thought, and one that I truly agree needs to be thought during this day of honoring mothers. Thank you, for putting into perspective once again, the things that may go unnoticed or thought of regularily!

I know several mothers who are thanking birth mothers, if not today, then tomorrow. What a blessed gift.
