The treasure of YOU | Filed under General

Today is a day so many look for Friday but it is also bringing us very close to the end of April. I hope that you’ve been good to yourself this month, and that you treat yourself even better in May! Thank you for visiting me often but more than that for the time you take to comment for that is what is important to me and keeps my passion burning. Yes this is my passion and you are the fuel that many times keeps it burning. It is still all about YOU and not me….so here we go.

Why do we most often think of treasure as something that’s been hidden and that people have to search for. Story after story tells us of characters who are searching for a hidden treasure, only to discover that the treasure inside is much more important than any sort of material wealth.

You are a treasure. You are love and caring and potential, and what you have to give to others is much more important than anything they can earn in a paycheck or purchase in a store. Perhaps you haven’t yet reached a point at which you’re comfortable with giving of yourself; that’s okay–just be patient. Perhaps you haven’t yet uncovered the most important elements of your unique treasure; that’s okay–just keep searching and being true to yourself.

I always feel revitalized and energized when I meet people who recognize the fact that they are treasures, and that they have much to share with others. And their message to me always has been the same–they aren’t doing or being anything different than everyone else can do or be. They just allow themselves to recognize that they are worthy, more worthy than any material goods ever can be, and they spend their time trying to help others to recognize, accept, and cherish their own worthiness.

Treasures that are buried in the ground or hidden in a cave do no good for anyone. They just sit there, unused and unknown. Treasures that are brought out into the light and then used for the common good are the most special treasures there are, and the amazing thing about them is that even though we give freely of them, they continue to grow larger and stronger and more valuable. We will have times when we feel exhausted from giving of our treasure, but we will be replenished, either through rest or through other people sharing their treasure with us. We just have to be aware and awake so that we can accept what they have to give.

You are a treasure yourself, and you are full of treasures that can be helpful to many, many people. Be patient, and know that the people who will recognize the treasure that you are and that is in you are out there, but that not everyone will recognize it. Be you, be kind to yourself, and know that the treasure that you are is more valuable than any sort of material goods.

I wonder if you read this and got this message and if you get me, if not why? Tell me about the treasures you have today. I know I have many but the first one I have and the one I treasure most is myself. There was once a time I did not even like myself forget thinking I was a treasure myself but those days are long gone. I have wonderful treasures in my family, my husband, Carl Wayne, my mother and beautiful sister, Jan that I grow closer to each day even though we do not see each other, my second family I obtained when I married and my friends such as Melissa, William, Joe, George, Tom, Joyce , Catherine and the list goes on and on. These are things you can not buy and you can not sell them but you can loose them quickly sometimes at your doing and at other times you have no control but I do my best to keep in touch with my treasures from time to time and friends understand.

You’re so right - I’ve lost many a treasured friend by not keeping in touch like I should have. As we all know, life can be and is, very fragile. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of the “real” treasures. You’re an angel. :)

Your post made me smile today, you are so right in everything that you say here. My treasure is upstairs sleeping in the guest bedroom. He is my brother, he lived through a very bad accident, and he made a difficult journey to come see me. The treasure found me, how great is that? Today, Life IS simply good.

its important that one recognize the treaure that is oneself, but somehow, many a time i find myself wondering how much of a treasure i am.
in reality, estimation of the self is not possible; and this gets worse when one goes ahead and keeps wondering about the real meaning.
hence, i’ve gone to treasuring those near and dear: we are truly made by tbem.

Well, ms. Vickie, you have been speaking to my soul all week. I know that I am a treasure and have many treasures to share. But, yesterday, it was one of those really bad days. So coming in to read this post this morning, really made me realize I had a lot more to offer than what had been happening. Thanks.

I believe I am a treasure though sometimes I fail. I believe in the treasure of family and friendships and the beauty and essence each one brings into my life. I am blessed to have wonderful caring and loving friends and family. They will always be my most valuable treasure.

Learning more about myself and others and learning to give of myself is one of things I treasure. The list of people and non-material gifts I treasure is long one.
