You Learn –Veronica Shoffstall
After awhile you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn that love doesn’t mean possession
and company doesn’t mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
and presents aren’t promises and you begin to accept
your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of an adult not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads today
because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have ways of falling down in mid-flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine
burns if you get too much so you plant your
own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
that you really are strong
and you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn…
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you never walk alone.
We leave you a tradition of the future. The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, redeemed and redeemed and redeemed. Never throw anyone away.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older, you’ll discover that you have two hands: One for helping yourself, the second for helping others.
You have great days still ahead of you. May there be many of them.
You learn many things in life the difficult way and I am a very slow learner in some things. I have alluded to lack of energy and difficult times recently but continued on as if Life Is Simply Good. Yes it is and it isn’t. I love to write here and to visit each of you at your place but lately fatigue is becoming more and more difficult to manage.
I have withdrawn from everything except this in hopes the burst of energy would come. I am still waiting and hoping that it will find me without taking extra steps I’ m not ready to take. I’ll visit your site when I can and I’ll write here on the days I feel like it but I’ll no longer push myself as I have in the past. Thank you my friends I did learn so much and will continue to… I hope you understand and I know some of you will and some of you will not.

I’ve contemplated how much time/energy this site must take, brava for putting healthy boundaries in place. If love could heal. Be present with the light you are and around you. And remember to pamper yourself along the way. You have my prayers and heart. oxox

I think we all have these moments while we’re blogging- when you’re trying desperately to write every day, and you end up burning out! Now I limit myself to a small post a day unless I have a long tale to tell, and I don’t feel so stressed.
