Friends…Valentines Day | Filed under General

Friendship is not like a product to be used when you need it.

To be a friend means that you are willing to give yourself not only through the good times, but also during the bad times.

To be a friend means encourage strengths in others and accepting their weaknesses; in other words, accepting them for who they are.

In the end, to be a friend means giving freely and not expecting anything in return.

You are friendly, kind and caring
Sensitive, loyal and understanding
Humorous, fun, secure and true
Always there… yes that’s you.

Special, accepting, exciting and wise
Truthful and helpful, with honest blue eyes
Confiding, forgiving, cheerful and bright
Yes that’s you… not one bit of spite.

You’re one of a kind, different from others
Generous, charming, but not one that smothers
Optimistic, thoughtful, happy and game
But not just another… in the long chain.

Appreciative, warm and precious like gold
Our friendship won’t tarnish or ever grow old
You’ll always be there, I know that is true
I’ll always be here… always for you.

Yes I am Your Victoria….Always Victoria….

In my last post I asked if you had someone special for Valentines Day and if so what would you be getting them or doing for them? One of my very best friends,Cecilia of Clearcandy Daily asked me if I could dish out some advice as to what she can do to fight the loneliness well these is for you my dear lovely Cecilia.

Valentines Day is NOT only for Lovers

Some people hate to see Valentines Day come around. Some have ended relationships and feel lonely while others have not yet met that someone special. Valentines Day should be a day to share love with those around you. Below are 10 thoughts you can do on Valentines Day to make the day special for you:

1. Look around you and appreciate those who care about you, be thankful they are in your life.

2. Rather than expect a card, send a card to someone special in your life (your mum, a relative, a friend) and thank them for being them.

3. Treat yourself on Valentines Day… if you don’t love yourself then you will never be able to love others in a meaningful way.

4. Call your mum or your dad, or that someone who made a difference in your life and thank them for caring about you.

5. Enjoy your day, remember, that you are exchanging a day of your life.

6. Take 5 minutes and sit quietly and reflect on all the blessings in your life. Remember there are always those who are in a worse situation than you.

7. Do something nice for someone today. . . it may be as simple as smiling at someone in an elevator to buying someone a coffee.

8. Call that friend or relative that you have not talked with in awhile.

9. Cook or buy your favorite meal for dinner.

10. Last but not least, don’t feel sorry for yourself; be thankful for all the good in your life!

What is your definition of a friend? Do you live up to your own definition with your friends? I try my best to but there are times I am not the best friend so to my friends I often can be found saying I’m sorry but a true friend will understand. So back to my question take a moment a leave a comment..let me hear your thoughts be a friend or make a friend.I’m a friend, your a friend..we are a friend…..just be a friend.

This is such great advice. And a great idea for ANYONE who’d like for Valentine’s Day to mean just a little bit more…

It’s 9 am and I am sitting in the tiny nook we call office in this lab. My 2 young colleagues had to stop what they were doing as they heard my soft cries induced by this touching and warm post, Vickie.

It’s been, and still is, a tough ride. The loneliness is palpable. But every visit I make to your blog, and every visit that you do to mine, wakes me up from this wary slumber and instills a little bit of sunshine in my veins.

Let me tell you, that sunshine goes a long way.

You do pick me up, Vickie. Thank you for being a dear dear friend. Your words are so precious that I have to hold them close to my heart so it can listen and beat just a little more.

    I heart you.
