Invest in yoursef, you are worth it | Filed under General

Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast–you also miss the sense of where you’re going and why.

Eddie Cantor

The best investment you can make is in yourself. It doesn’t matter if it is a seminar or a day at the spa, investing in you always pays off. If we don’t take care of mind, body and spirit, we will end up burnt out and stressed. Even mini breaks such as a walk in the park or a nap help refresh and rejuvenate. Investing in yourself is about caring enough to put yourself and your well being first.

When we think of investing, we might think of putting money in the bank. Just as money in the bank will yield a return, so will investing in you. Just as compound interest will exponentially increase your savings, such is the compound interest in life. Investing in ourselves provides a strong foundation for which to build our life and will continually provide support we can build on. Unlike a bank that will provide an overdraft if we come up short, the bank of life does not provide such a service. If we have not built up a reserve, we will find ourselves in a jam. When you have been investing in yourself, you’ll be able to make a withdrawal from the bank of life and still have a reserve to draw on.

There are many ways to invest in you. Things such as:

* Taking enough time off to be refreshed and creative
* Improving life and business skills such as earning a degree or taking adult education classes that teach you something new and tap into your creativity
* Cultivating friendships
* Spending time with family and loved ones
* Exercising to maintain a healthy mind and body

Too many people think they can get away with not investing in themselves. They either neglect it all together or think investing in themselves in a selfish thing to do. The truth is that if one continues to neglect herself or himself and does not make daily investments they will wake up one day to

* a lack of necessary business and life skills
* serious heath issues
* relationships that are in shambles
* burn out

Recent illness has brought home the reality that our health is the most valuable thing we can have. If we don’t have that, everything becomes a challenge. Although we cannot prevent all illnesses, we don’t have to help it along. Reducing stress, feeding our minds and bodies with rich substances and nurturing our souls can make a huge difference. Caring for you is a gift that gives back for a lifetime.

I listen to my body and take care of ME much better now that I have Multiple Sclerosis than I did before would things have been different had I done so sooner, this is one answer that will never be known. I can only know what is important from now on and can also encourage others to listen to this important message.

Life is Simply Good at Always Victoria and I will leave you with another favorite quote.

Happiness is not in our circumstances, but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are.

    Inspiring as ever, you certainly are. After a “wake-up call”, I have recently started to take care of myself. Yes, I was too busy with other things (and other people) in life that I had forgotten to take care of myself. It is, indeed, the best gift you can give to yourself (health).

    I wish you well today. x

    Well said. Sometimes raising a family prioritizes your personal development needs dead last. But just like exercising, you have to raise the priority and fit it into your life somewhere. It helps to get all aspects of your life into balance.

    I thought of you yesterday while I was leaving the office. I was sitting at a red light, staring off toward the river valley and you popped into my head. I hope you felt the loving vibes I was sending your way.
