A new week is here, and it will bring us to the end of this year. It’s a good time to reflect on who we are and what we’ve done and how we’ve grown and changed as people in the last twelve months, hopefully leading us to feel very good about ourselves as we move into 2005 come Saturday. If you have never loved yourself, never really loved yourself, gently and unconditionally, now is the time to do that. As the new year comes, love yourself, forgive yourself, and at the same time, know that there is nothing to forgive. Love other people, and let them love you. You’ll never be bored. Unconditional love can do some amazing things, and it’s a real safety net. And we can do amazing things when we know that we are safe. Miracles happen every day.
Along those lines instead of New Year’s resolutions this year if you are like me, they just do not work then why not do something different this year. Maybe you would like to reflect over the year and come up with a list of some really great things YOU DID accomplish during the year, or maybe you would like to make a list of some NEW THINGS you learned during the year, and then what are some things you do intend to do this NEXT YEAR and don’t forget the list of those things you are so MOST GRATEFUL for. Yes that sounds so much more fun than New Year’s resolutions.
I have never done well if I felt deprived and ever time I resolved to do something for some reason I viewed that in a negative manner however I can use most of the things in a positive way here and accomplish the same outcome. Maybe this will help you if you look at it this way, you never know and make it fun. I plan to go skydiving with Mike next year, wonder if he has forgot? Life is Simply Good at Always Victoria and remember, Grandma Moses said “Life is what we make it. Always has been, always will be.”

New Year’s Resolutions never have made it off my desk, even when I’ve tried to make them realistic, such as the year I said I’d be mean and uncooperative. Low and behold, I was the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet … all year.

I like the idea of writing the things we’ve done in the past year along with looking forward to the new year. I don’t really have an ‘new’ resolutions, still working on my long range goals. I’m sure there are some new things I should work on though.
Always something…
*HUGS* to you, my dear friend! Love ya!

This is a wonderful post, Vickie. I learned that New Year’s resolutions are broken as quickly as they are made. So, I like your idea - of celebrating this past year. Perhaps in the celebration of who we are and what we accomplished, we can gain insight and direction on the coming year, yes?

Good point. Resolutions are in many times actually “corrections” for bad behavior, i.e., too much eating, not enough exercise, not enough calling friends, not enough volunteering, etc. This makes you think the previous year was a “bad year” because you are emphasizing the correction for something. We need to recognize the positives and build on them.

Likewise on the BOB awards. I think I’m going to like this little awards thingy better than the last one. I am up against the number one blog at photoblogs.org though (cromasia), so I doubt if I can win. It would be cool to come in second again though.

What a great suggestion to write down all the things we’re thankful for. After that, I suppose one resolution to write down something you’re thankful for every day wouldn’t be a postitive one to start a new habit, rather than focusing on what you’re going to break.

That’s very sweet, but I find myself loving myself rather conditionally. It’s in order and necessary.
But not as necessary as getting this stupid music link to work! grrr

I’ve done some of the “most grateful” for, now will work on the things I “intend” to get done next year! Thanks for a great, positive, uplifting post!
