Today and just a little of my feelings | Filed under General

It is one of those days when I need to be in two places at the same time but of course that is impossible. Here I am in the big city and last night my sister calls me with the news that my mother has been admitted to the hospital and is in ICU. It seems she came very close to death and had my niece who is a nurse not been there that might have been the result. I have many emotions right now and love for my mother seems to be the strongest and I am so proud to be her daughter.

Things My Mother Taught Me

* My mother taught me LOGIC.
“If you fall off there and break your neck, you can’t go shopping with me.”
* My mother taught me about MORE LOGIC.
“Because I said so, that’s why.”
* My mother taught me MEDICINE.
“If you don’t stop crossing your eyes, they’re going to freeze that way.”
* My mother taught me TO THINK AHEAD.
“If you don’t pass your spelling test, you’ll never get a good job!”
* My mother taught me about ENVY.
“There are millions of children who don’t have wonderful parents like you do.”
* My mother taught me ESP.
“Put your sweater on. Don’t you think I know when you’re cold?”
* My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.
“If you’re going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning the house.”
* My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.
“Stop acting like your father.”
* My mother taught me TO MEET A CHALLENGE.
“What were you thinking? Answer me when I talk to you. Don’t talk back to me!”
* My mother taught me about WEATHER.
“Your room looks like a tornado went through it.”
* My mother taught me about RELIGION.
“You’d better pray that comes out of the carpet.”
* My mother taught me HUMOR.
“When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don’t come running to me.”
* My mother taught my about IRONY.
“Stop that crying or I’ll give you something to cry about.
* My mother taught me how to BECOME AN ADULT.
“If you don’t eat all of your vegetables, you’ll never grow up.”
* My mother taught me about GENETICS.
“You are just like your father!”
* My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
If you don’t straighten up, I ‘m going to knock you into the middle of next week.
* My mother taught me the science of OSMOSIS.
Shut your mouth and eat your supper.
* My mother taught me FORESIGHT.
Make sure you wear clean underwear in case you’re in an accident.
* My mother taught me about HYPOCRACY.
If I’ve told you once I’ve told you a million times, don’t exaggerate.
* My mother taught me about my ROOTS.
“Shut the door. You weren’t raised in a barn.”
* My mother taught me about the WISDOM OF AGE.
“When you get to be my age, you will understand.”
* My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION.
“Just wait until your father gets home.”
* My mother taught me about the CIRCLE OF LIFE.
“I brought you into this world and I can take you out.”
* My mother taught me about RECEIVING.
“You are going to get it when we get home.”
* And my all time favorite thing, JUSTICE.
“One day you will have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you. Then you’ll see what it’s like.”

Guess what I had no kids so I will not see what it’s like but she and I have had so much fun she says to me she wishes so much I could have been a mother for I would have been such a good one just like I was a daughter. My mom and I are having such special times together and for some reason just now I feel a calm and peace for should she go she is ready and I have been there and had special times and even now I am here trying to finalize what I must to live with her . Now if I can just keep this calm and peace feeling and not allow others to influence me and transfer their feelings to me I will remain fine and Life will be Simply Good.

Good luck to your mother as she fights her way through this. And good luck to you as well. It’s tough dealing with our feelings of helplessness as we watch someone we love struggle with their health. My thoughts are with you.

This put a smile on my face, especially the one about receiving. My mom also taught me that one. ;) Good luck with her.

I am sorry to hear about your mother. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I, like you, never had children, so, I won’t know what it is like to have a mother/daughter bond.

My mom and I have a close relationship now !! *HUGS*
