Words of Wisdom and Observations on Life:

1.) Remember, the mind likes to assume it “know what it knows” but
often its perceptions are just not accurate. Yet strong judgments are
made all the time based on limited information…When we judge
someone and then adopt an attitude toward them, that shuts down other
possibilities and locks us away from the insight of our hearts.

2.) Like the elephant, we are unconscious of our own strength. When
it comes to understanding the power we have to make a difference in
our own lives, we might as well be asleep. If you want to make your
dreams come true, wake up. Wake up to your own strength. Wake up to
the role you play in your own destiny. Wake up to the power you have
to choose what you think, do, and say.

3.) Realize that now, in this moment of time, you are creating.
You are creating your next moment. That is what’s real.

4.) Sincere forgiveness isn’t colored with expectations that the
other person apologize or change. Don’t worry whether or not they
finally understand you. Love them and release them. Life feeds back
truth to people in its own way and time — just like it does for you
and me.

Thoughts To Ponder:

1.) Our ability to achieve happiness and success depends on the
strength of our wings. The greater our knowledge and experience, the
higher we can fly.

2.) Resisting change in your life wastes valuable energy. When people
focus on stopping the change rather than being open and trying to
understand the change they are missing opportunities.

3.) Learn to look at every difficult situation as a present; the gift
within is the possibilities it holds. To open the gift you must find
the “possibility”.

4.) Remember that there is a time for everything - and everybody. Our
time to bear good fruit may be yet to come. In fact, we may do our
best work, or find our unique place, later in life.

5.) It takes so much for one person to make a difference in
this world, but what about that one person who makes a difference to
you?

Men’s Weekly Section:

Boost your bench press

During the last repetition in your last set, pay attention to the
point in the bench press where you feel weakest. Got it? Okay, lower
the weight, stand up, and adjust the rack so the barbell is resting
at this sticking point. Next step: Slide on more weight than you can
possibly press. Now lie down and grab the bar as if you were going to
try to raise it, but instead do five to 10 contractions against the
weight–push, relax, repeat. Do this once a week. “You’ll train the
muscles and joints at the specific angle at which you’re weakest,”
says Richard Kreider, Ph.D., a professor of human performance at
Baylor University. Eliminate your weakest link and you’ll be able to
press more.

Women’s Weekly Section:

DO-IT-YOURSELF CHOLESTEROL TREATMENT

Would you believe that most commercially bought cholesterol hair
conditioners contain alcohol– the very thing that dries out hair?
Instead, grab a cup full of mayonnaise, some plastic food wrap and
throw a couple of towels in the drier on high.

Work the mayonnaise into your hair, starting by massaging it into the
scalp and roots. Then draw it through to your ends until your hair is
thoroughly coated. Pile the hair on top of your head. Take a couple
of feet of saran wrap and wrap it around the top of your head to
contain the mayo.

Take a pre-heated towel from the dryer and wrap it around your head
over the saran wrap. The heat will aid with deep conditioning. After
about 10 minutes, change to another heated towel and leave that on
for another 10 minutes.

Remove the towel and plastic wrap and shampoo your hair as usual.
Done once a month, this cholesterol treatment will keep your hair
soft and shiny.

* Tip: if your hair ends are very damaged from chemical treatment,
you can do this once a week. If your scalp is naturally oily, you
might want to only add mayo to the hair ends for weekly treatments.

“It’s Been Said” (quotations)…

Let’s get this straight, once and for all. Here in the South,
barbecue is a noun, not a verb, used to designate pork meat that has
been slow-cooked over hardwoods. Simple enough?

Communication Tip:

Leave the tags out of the end of your statements and commands.
Examples are ending a statement with “isn’t it?”, “are
you?”, “right?”, etc. These tags make your statement sound weak, as
though you are doubting yourself.
