We Are the Decent People of the World | Filed under Inspiration

We are the decent people of the world.

We are in the majority, for men and women are essentially decent.

We live in all nations, we live under all the flags that fly.

Decency is not determined by our economic status, our religion, the language we speak, the color of our skin, or the ideology under which we live. Human decency is a universal quality.

We, the decent people of the world, often have our voices drowned out by the shouts of leaders who misrepresent the things for which we stand.

We the decent people carry enough weight to tip the scale for decency if we will make ourselves heard. . . .

We believe that war is the great indecency, that it kills and destroys all the higher sensibilities of man and leaves only death, suffering and destruction in its wake.

We believe that this is a beautiful universe and that it is made for love and not for hate; for peace and not war; for freedom and not slavery; for order and not riot; for compassion and not violence; for happiness and not misery.

We believe that there is only one war to be waged in the name of human decency, and that is the war against all the common enemies of humanity. . . hunger, disease, poverty, ignorance, crime and failure.

We believe that every child should have the chance to grow up in an atmosphere of faith, not of fear.

We believe that the ultimate decency is to help people and never harm them, to lift people and not degrade them, and to respect the dignity of all people as individual human beings.

We the decent people of the world stand for the kind of life that will be good for all of the people, all of the time, everywhere.

Maybe I’ve read too much news this morning, but this very much reads like propaganda to me. It talks about a society that would be like utopia, yet with all the terrorism in the world, tyrants, murderers and so on that will not ever happen - - and war, although a horrible thing, is a necessary thing in order to protect our lands and people. I could go on and on here, but know you didn’t post this in the way that I am taking it - - so I’ll hush for now :)

That is great! More people need to read it and believe in it, and maybe the world would be a better place.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!! *hugs*

Thank you husz for visiting my blog today and taking the time to leave your comment. I have visited your home in cyber land and will return again.

UG I am so happy you come here every day and visit me and not just visit but you also take your time to be honest with your feelings and how you see things. There is so much bad in the world and in the news. Will we ever live in utopia on here on this earth, no. I will always try to find someway or something that just might help in some small way. If this reached one person and just helped them think a little better of even their next door neighbor because they are of a different race then so be it. Yes war is horrible but I believe the war we enter are necessary are we would not be there but there are so many other things we also need to be fighint for and against that we seem to lose sight of when a war is going on for that becomes the only focus or appears to be.

Karen Thanks for your comment I am so glad to see you making it back into the cyber world and know you are feeling better. I have missed you. If I reached just a few people that did not think the way you and I do then wow is all I can say or think. Keep on improving and just don’t over do things for I want to see you around here for a very long time…my friend…I love you….

Concerning the news of the day - - I completely support the war in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I think today’s news is great for the people of Iraq. War is never, ever a good thing - - but it can bring about positive outcomes.

I support the war - - and I consider myself to be a pretty decent person, overall. I have to disagree with this one, Vick - - but can appreciate it’s sentiment and motive behind it. :)

Thanks Lisa I understand your point as well. I don’t know if you had noticed I had said to me the war is horrible but necessary or we would not be there but it seeems we lose sight of other very important things when we are at war.

You are more than a decent person from where I stand.

Agreed, Vickie - it’s easy enough for folks to lose sight of what’s important during trying times. Difficult to stay focused on the clear and direct goal, at hand. No one really wants war, I don’t think - - quite a few who will say that some yearn for it…but, for me, I don’t believe that to be true.

A, sometimes, necessary evil - as my grandma would say.
