Thanks to our Heroes | Filed under Inspiration

If you need any help in expressing your thoughts for all those who serve us and we consider our heroes, you might want to check this site out. Those heroes serve us as in any of these roles…..fire, police, military, nurses, doctor, etc . This is a very good weekend for that special THANKS.

I think too many people think of Memorial Day as paid vacation and a long weekend for partying. Too many people loose site of what it is all about. Thank you for the reminder!

For four years I pulled people out of rip currents (they are not tides) and even towed a disabled boat out of the swell with nothing but my bouy (can) and a pair of fins. Not once did I ever consider myself or any of my coworkers heros. We were just doing our job. I’m sure the people doing the jobs mentioned feel the same way. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but calling safety workers heros really dilutes the title for the real heros. Some may say that we risk our own lives to save others on a daily basis, but 99% of the time there’s a lot less risk than you would think. We’re trained to do the things we do (in my case, did). It has nothing to do with being modest, because I can be as big an egomaniac as the next guy.

Brooks…I bet those people you pulled out of the rip currents even today would call you their hero. However you are so right in the respect that most view it as just doing their job and look for no recognization. I just like for them to be told Thanks at times and we so seldom take the time …By the way you are 1/2 hero in my book you linked me at last…..

So would that have made me a 1 1/2 hero if I would have pulled you out of a rip? :-)

You are 2 X my hero if you would have pulled me out of a rip…you believe in linky love and comments.
